Caribou Pass

Sol Mountain Lodge has long been an incredible backcountry ski lodge deep in the Monashee Mountains and back in 2013 they began building singletrack. Fast forward to 2019 and they’ve finished one of my favourite alpine trails in all of BC.. the Cariboo Pass Trail. I’ll be sharing a selection of images that highlight this sweet trail that should be on every rider’s tick list.
A nice steady climb through sub alpine forest and meadows gets you to ridgetop where the Cariboo Pass Trail proper starts as it traverses through Monashee Provincial Park. - Monashee Mountains, BC
The Cariboo Pass Trail is the perfect mix of technical and flowy alpine singletrack. Starting from the lodge, it’s a 20km out and back trail littered with smooth gneiss slabs, tough climbs, fast buff sections, and rock gardens surrounded by wildflowers. Oh and the surrounding mountain views aren’t too bad either.
After Cariboo Pass Trail be sure to explore the rest of the trail network at Sol Mountain Lodge. Definitely stop for a swim in Sol Lake then catch the sunset over the Monashees before calling it a day and heading back to the lodge.
